Frequently asked questions
How are the Ramadan and Eid dates calculated?
They use the Umm al-Qura calendar: the first of Ramadan and the first of Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) are determined for the current or next Hijri year, converted to the matching Gregorian date, and the countdown runs to that day.
Why might the date differ by a day in my country?
Some countries follow local moon sighting instead of the Umm al-Qura calculation, which can shift the date by one day — especially for the start of Ramadan and Eid day.
What happens if I open the page during Ramadan?
The Ramadan box shows "Ramadan Mubarak! You are now in the month of Ramadan" instead of a counter, while the Eid box keeps counting down to the first of Shawwal of the same year.
Is the countdown accurate to the second?
Yes. It refreshes every second in your browser and counts to local midnight of the occasion day on your device, so it is correct whenever you visit.
