  4. Press Calculate to see the zakat due (2.5%) if your wealth reaches the nisab.

Frequently asked questions

What is the nisab threshold?

The nisab is the minimum amount of wealth on which zakat becomes due, equivalent to 85 grams of pure gold or 595 grams of silver. The calculator uses whichever is lower at current prices.

What percentage of zakat is due?

The due rate is 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth, provided it has reached the nisab and a full Hijri year has passed.

Are debts deducted before calculating zakat?

Short-term debts due within the year are deducted from zakatable wealth according to the majority of scholars, so the calculator includes a field for them.

Is zakat on gold calculated by weight or value?

The gold weight in grams is multiplied by the current 24k gram price, added to your cash, and the total is zakated at 2.5% if it reaches the nisab.
