Which calendar are the Hijri dates based on?
They are based on the Umm al-Qura calendar, officially used in Saudi Arabia and astronomically computed for 1300–1600 AH.
Can the Gregorian dates of occasions shift?
Yes. The Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year, so every occasion comes earlier each Gregorian year. Countries using local moon sighting may also differ by one day.
How are the remaining days counted?
The count is the whole-day difference between today and the occasion’s next occurrence — zero means it is today, and if it already passed this Hijri year, the count runs to next year’s occurrence.
Why is the Hijri date shown without a year?
Occasions recur on the same Hijri day and month every year (e.g. 1 Muharram), so the table shows the recurring day and month; the year appears in the matching Gregorian date.
