This tool shrinks JPG, PNG and WebP images right in your browser — your pictures are never uploaded to a server and stay on your device the whole time. Adjust the quality, choose the output format, compare the size before and after, and preview the result before downloading it.
How to use
- Pick an image from your device to see its preview, dimensions and size right away — before any processing.
- Set the quality with the slider and choose to keep the original format or compress to JPEG or WebP.
- Press Compress to see the before/after images side by side with the savings percentage; tweak the quality and compress again without re-selecting the file.
- Press Download to save the compressed image to your device.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser using built-in web APIs — your images never leave your device.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG uses lossless compression that preserves every pixel, so changing the quality has little effect on its size. For much bigger savings, switch the output format to WebP or JPEG.
JPEG or WebP — which should I pick?
Both are lossy, but WebP is newer and typically produces files 20–30% smaller than JPEG at the same visual quality, and it works in all modern browsers.
Will lowering the quality ruin my image?
Between 75% and 85% the difference is usually invisible to the eye while the file size drops noticeably. Try different values and check the preview before downloading.
